Spain said to license online operators

Gaming representatives from the national and regional authorities in Spain have started a work programme to regulate online gambling. A new regulation, according to which online operators would have to get a national license, would have to be in place in 2009.

The new regulation will have to define the redistribution of tax income from online gambling among national and regional governments. As pronounced by the French government, the national licensing would go hand-in-hand with strong repression of non-licensed operators.
