Ryan Moore Increases Lead in Longines World’s Best Jockey Standings

Following victory in the G1 Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse in Australia, Ryan Moore has boosted his lead in the LONGINES WORLD’S BEST JOCKEY Standings with 94 total points. Mr Moore is followed by Christophe Soumillon at 76 points and Joseph O'Brien at 72 points.

The scoring for the Longines World’s Best Jockey is based upon performances in the 100 highest-rated Group 1 and Grade 1 races as established for the year by the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings Committee. The scoring incorporates races from 1 December of the previous year until 30 November of the current year.  Jockeys accrue 12 points for a win, 6 points for placing second, and 4 points for placing third.  The rules of the points system can be found at ifhaonline.org.

The jockey with the best performance in the world’s highest-rated races will be honored at the inaugural LONGINES WORLD’S BEST JOCKEY award ceremony at the gala dinner of the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races, which is scheduled for 12 December 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

There remain only 3 races in the scoring for the Longines World’s Best Jockey, the G1 Darley Classic at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday 8 November, the G1 Mile Championship on Sunday 23 November at Kyoto Racecourse in Japan, and the G1 Japan Cup on Sunday 30 November at Tokyo Racecourse, also in Japan.
The full current jockeys standings, remaining races and past results for the year can be found at ifhaonline.org.
