New racing law proposed in Australian New South Wales

The NSW Parliament is dicussing a proposal for law, the Thoroughbred Racing Amendment Bill 2008.

The bill proposes:

  • the creation of a new independent Racing Board, whose members would be selected on merit
  • the introduction of a more flexible tote return to racing
  • the ban on racing clubs to sell land
  • to impose industry approval for any broadcasting agreement
