Growth commingled pooling on Breeders' Cup

New wagering records were established at the 23rd Breeders’ Cup World Championships held last Saturday at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Three major wagering records were set, including total handle, Breeders’ Cup-only handle and simulcast handle.

From the total handle of US$140 million, US$18 million or 13% was made on course. Slightly more handle, almost US$20 million or 13.7% was wagered from international punters, of which 27% were Canadians and 22% French. Most of the foreign bets were placed into the Breeders' Cup pools.

The US' leading betting websites generated around US$11 million handle.
