New Zealand fixes race calender with eye on int'l comingling

New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing published its Racing Calendar for 2008/09, which is available on http://www.nzracing.co.nz/.

In determining the 2008/09 calendar the New Zealand Racing Board worked in partnership with the Codes and Clubs to allocate licences to fit in with the Board's internationalisation agreements with Australian tote operator Tabcorp. Under the agreement introduced on 1st August 2007, Sky Channel Australia takes Monday to Saturday broadcasts from New Zealand. This has delivered significant returns to New Zealand racing and this momentum is set to continue into the next season. In particular the inclusion of the Friday thoroughbred meeting this season has delivered significant benefits.

The traditional racing calendar booklet will be published in July.
